How Heritage Created This Super Custom Sign for Leah & Louise Restaurant at Camp North End in Charlotte, NC:
We used corrugated metal, direct printed the rustic look to it, then screwed it to the big cedar block backplate that we had treated with Linseed oil so the outdoor elements wouldn’t hurt it. We routed out half-inch white acrylic and add stud holes on the back, then made a jig to send it through the printer. We had a template that we used to drill matching stud holes in the metal/wood so after we glued the studs on the back of the white acrylic, we cut 1-inch PVC dowels that we used as spacers that slid over each stud, then we stuck the studs in the holes in the metal/wood and the PVC spacers allowed for the acrylic to standoff the metal. It was installed using studs on the back of the wood as well.
