Summer 2020 Travel Trends
During the summer months, people normally have exciting vacations planned that have been on the books for weeks or months. This year is a little different. There is a lot of uncertainty about travel due to the COVID pandemic. People are looking for ways to enjoy some travel (and get much-needed getaways) without having to risk crowds and airlines.
Socially Distant Travel
Whether you decide to head to a remote B&B or strap a tent on top of Jeep before hitting the trails, the key to travel in 2020 is social distancing. There is nothing worse than a bug ruining your big vacation. This year, that worry is elevated by the spread and danger of COVID-19.
So, whatever you decide to do, opt for a travel plan that lets you stay spread out. Taking a road trip with some friends is a good way to have a little fun while mitigating the risk.
Overlanding and Camping
Arguably the best way to travel in 2020 is Overlanding. This is a type of travel (typically driving or biking) in which you take on some remote trails and destinations while bringing what you need with you. In other words, it is essentially camping while traveling.
Pick up some overlanding gear and get ready to take your truck or SUV out for the adventure of a lifetime. This has been popular with an enthusiastic community for many years. It is a great way to travel in 2020 without having to take airplanes or risk packed resorts. Plus, the great outdoors is always open. You don’t even need to wear a mask unless you interact with someone outside your group.
Adventures Near Home
Air travel has a lot of people nervous. So, many travelers are making plans for significantly shorter trips (in terms of distance) than they may have taken in 2019. This isn’t the best time for globetrotting. Instead, take some time to explore the world near your home.
You don’t necessarily need to limit yourself to a staycation. However, sticking within closer proximity to your home can give you a chance to get out and explore venues you may otherwise never experience. It is also much safer than trains and planes.
Hitting the Road
The road trip is a classic icon of American culture. This year is the perfect time to revive the tradition and hit the road. Just picture yourself with the top down, hair back and sunglasses on.
Road trips can be a lot of fun, especially if you are ready to be flexible. You can roam around a little more than you would otherwise be able to do. This can add a new sense of adventure to your Summer 2002 trip.
Plan Your Summer 2020 Trip
Whether you decide to buy that Smittybiltoverlander tent or take a road trip between small hotels and inns, this is a great year for an automotive-based vacation. When you travel in your own vehicle, you have very little risk of catching COVID. However, you can still take some time to unwind and enjoy the wonderful world around us. Get started planning today.
