What is Leukemia?
Leukemia is a type of cancer that affects the blood and bone marrow. It causes the body to make abnormal white blood cells known as leukemia cells or blast cells. These abnormal cells do not function like normal white blood cells and are not able to fight infection effectively. Over time, they build up in the bone marrow and spill over into the bloodstream.
