A swimming pool is an investment that will increase the value of your home. It also provides years of bringing the family together and creates memories that will last a lifetime.

However, keep in mind that it is extremely important to remember that resurfacing your swimming pool when your plaster has deteriorated is a pool renovation item that requires immediate attention. 

Why is it important to resurface a swimming pool builder. If you want a swimming pool to last for a long time, then resurfacing will help. 

There are two main reasons to resurface your swimming pool: 

The Look and Feel of the Oasis – Be aware that minerals such as copper and iron can stain the plaster. The variations in temperature can also affect the appearance of your pool’s plaster. 

Structural Reasons – The pool’s plaster acts as a waterproof layer between the water and the shell of your swimming pool. Keep in mind that older pools were made with poured concrete walls or cinder block, which means that they are porous materials. Although the resurface is a waterproofing layer, it protects the reinforced beams, avoiding rusting. The resurface also serves to fill tile lines, and around the skimmer area. 

Here are three things to look for that might tell you it’s time to consider resurfacing. 

1. The stains in your pool are more than just the typical “easy-to-clean” eyesore. 

There is no doubt that a pool’s discoloration coincides with how often it is used. Most of the time, the stains that you see come from the chemicals and minerals that you put in your pool, or leaves and other debris that falls in naturally. 

However, sometimes these stains could be algae (which will typically be a shade of green or red). If your attempts to clean and eliminate the algae are unsuccessful (especially if you suspect it might be toxic) it’s time to consider resurfacing your pool. 

2. Your pool’s surface feels rough. 

If the surface of your pool feels rough and abrasive and you notice that the gunite is breaking through, you need to call someone immediately. 

There are many different factors (besides age) that can cause your pool’s surface materials to deteriorate. Three of the most common are unbalanced pH levels, heavy use, and unexpected damage. 

No matter what the cause was, it is important to remember that once your pool’s surface layer starts to break down, it’s only going to get worse. So, swimming pool manufacturers it’s vital that you have it resurfaced as soon as possible. 

3. You constantly have to refill your pool. 

The longer you wait to repair a leak, the more often you will be writing out a large check to pay off your water bill each month. Plus, the longer you wait to repair a leak, the costlier it will be to repair or resurface. 

Once you know, you should schedule to have any repairs, or a full resurfacing done to help ensure you do not lose water in the near future.
