Free guide launched to help pet owners combat obesity in dogs
Weighing scales manufacturer Marsden has launched a free downloadable guide to help pet owners combat animal obesity.
According to the 2014 PDSA Animal Welfare report, one in three dogs in the UK are currently overweight.
The guide, titled ‘Keep Your Dog Fit & Healthy’, includes diet tips, causes of obesity and the negative effects obesity can have on a pet. It can be downloaded from Marsden’s website.
Marsden Managing Director, Richard Black, said: “The PDSA has described obesity as ‘the number one issue facing vets’ - and research by Marsden has found that 58% of pets could be overweight.
“Obesity in pets can lead to diabetes, arthritis, heart disease, cancer and reduced life expectancy. We can all do more to protect the welfare of our animals, and the free guide can help.”
