Music licensing can be confusing and expensive and an absolute pain in the backside. If all you want to do is have some awesome music tracks in the background of your videos. The last thing you want to do when you spend a heap of time creating your videos and finding those perfect music tracks that really fit the vibe you're off to for your videos is to have your videos monetized or flagged as copyright infringement and then get a YouTube strike or worse because you don't have the rights to use those tracks in Tik Tok and your YouTube videos.
So when this video went to run you through the safe options that you can use to get royalty free mashup music for your birthday party any video project ranging from basic free options to paid all you can eat subscription services designed to cover all your video projects. And while we're running through make sure to share your favorite music sites in the comments below there's new ones popping up all the time. So let us know what you found and check out the sites the rest of the promo video community are using as well. So there's lots of options for music out there both free and paid but really what I recommend is that you go the paper route so you don't just end up with the same stuff that everyone else has.
But even then on some of the popular platforms things like art list and premium beat actually starting to hear tracks from those platforms more and more in videos as well. Which I suppose is a good thing. Now the first thing to remember when looking at any royalty free licensing whether it is free or paid is to check the license that you are actually getting. Some of them have restrictions around the number of views that your videos will have and then you might need to pay for the higher license. Others you aren't allowed to make any changes or modify the tracks at all so you couldn't loop a section of the music to extend or shorten the music track to fit your video and others out there will pretty much let you do whatever you want which is ideal.
So then starting off with the free options you've got the YouTube audio library. This is something that everyone with a YouTube account has access to. So potentially these songs are used quite a lot but there's also not a lot in there to choose from so your selection is going to be pretty limited. Beyond that you can look for free music with Creative Commons licensing. Now this is definitely one of those areas where you should check the specific requirements on each individual track because they will differ even on the same platforms as to what your requirements actually are.
If you're going to use each individual track so two popular options for finding free creative commons license music would be free music archive dot org and SoundCloud. So both of these will let you search their music archives and you better find some really awesome royalty free Creative Commons music tracks in there. But definitely be aware of the music licensing. As we've said but also if something seems too good to be true especially on soundcloud then likely it is you might find that some tracks that are big top 40 top 100 tracks are in SoundCloud and wrongfully marked as Creative Commons and free use because they've just been uploaded by random account so it does pay to do a little bit of homework if you are looking on soundcloud for music.
If you've got a popular song on there that you would like to use and your videos it is probably likely that it is wrongfully classified and not uploaded by the original copyright owner anyway. So on soundcloud here's how you can actually search for tracks that you can use in your videos. So head over to soundcloud com forward slash search make you need to perform a search and then filter the search afterwards or you can come down here two tracks and you can choose to listen to and you've also got to use commercially or to modify commercially commercially is a great place to start especially for YouTube videos because it means that you can use these across the board and obviously if you want make modifications to the music track then you can use the to modify commercially filter.
Then used to come back of the top and search for either the type of music that you're after so it could be a mood something like upbeat sad. Happy inspiring. Or you could search for the type of music so it could be electronic jazz or whatever types of music you're off to. The other social I found that pretty good is if you actually just search for creative commons up here. Press search and you can find a heap of music on here that is already tagged as royalty free music. So it's a great place to start.
Now if you're looking for something a little simpler a little cleaner and something that's suitable for any video projects then there are some great paid options available. You're not that long ago the only options you had for purchasing music licensing was on an individual track by track basis. So that was using platforms like premium beat audio jungle music bad audio network and there's a heap of others like that as well. When you're paying for a licence for an individual track. But now there are some great or you can eat subscription services things like sound stripe audio blocks art list and epidemic sound.
And the beauty of these platforms is that you are paying once per month or per year and you get access to a heap of music without buying the individual track by track licenses. Out of those my top two personal favorites are epidemic sound and list list is fantastic because it's got a huge range of music tracks. It is a one off flat fee of one ninety nine per year and there really isn't any restrictions around the licensing. You can do whatever you want to the music tracks. You can actually use them in any project where there is a corporate video whether it is just a YouTube video you have an unlimited unrestricted use of these music tracks and even if you cancel your subscription after a year any music track that you used during that time that you purchased in your subscription you actually have access to keep using in your videos as well.
And just like artist epidemic sound has a huge range of tracks in its music library and they've also got a subscription that's based targeted just at YouTube. So there's obviously advantages and disadvantages in that in that you can only use that music on that license for YouTube if you want to use that music anywhere else in any corporate videos then you will need to purchase an additional license in which case you back to the track by track license option and that's also when the music tracks start to get more expensive as well. But you do actually have options for either purchasing the tracks individually or you can also buy by the second as well so epidemic sound has three pricing options they have a start up pack which is fifteen dollars per month and that'll cover you up to 500000 monthly channel views.
If you're getting more than 500000 monthly channel views then you'll be looking at the professional plan which is only 30 dollars per month and this will cover you up to 5 million monthly channel views. And if you're exceeding that they also have an epic plan for one hundred and fifty dollars per month which covers unlimited monthly channel views. So even if you're nowhere near those thresholds what it means is that you can have access to a great music library for as little as 15 dollars per month. Now both artists and epidemic sound have a free trial.
We will have links in the description box below but at least we'll give you access to a free personal account which doesn't include the licences for the music but you can download ringtone tracks and epidemic sound has a 30 day free trial available. So overall these are both great services. Given that you get access to such a great selection of music then both constantly updated without paying massive rates for each individual track. And as I said these two are the clear standouts for us and this is where we get most of the music for our YouTube channel.
