Digital dentistry’s latest brainchild, Digital Smile Design, or DSD, which allows patients to virtually test-drive their smiles before receiving any dental treatments, is fast gaining ground in the Middle East. To engender a better understanding of this new concept, Dubai-based clinic Vilafortuny hosted a two-day course by DSD expert Dr Christian Coachman at its in-house training centre.
“There is a growing interest in this revolutionary concept in the Middle East. In fact, this marks my second visit to the region this year,” commented Dr Coachman. “It’s not surprising, given the sort of possibilities this concept opens up for patients and their dental practitioners. DSD helps dentists deliver a higher quality of services to their patients.”
Vilafortuny’s training centre is engineered to better equip medical and dental practitioners operating within the Middle East by keeping them up-to-date with the latest developments in their respective fields. Dr Coachman’s two-day visit comprised lectures, live demonstrations and a hands-on workshop on DSD, targeted at developing practical protocols for incorporating it into day-to-day operations and clinical workflow.
