Abs and Oblique Exercises

I am going to give you a few of my favorite exercisesMetabolic Stretching Review for abs and obliques. But, I want to tell you why they are my favorite first.

The trick to getting a great set of abs is twofold. You need to burn fat and build muscle. Exercises like sit ups and crunches build muscle but don't burn fat well. Cardio exercises burn fat but don't build muscle. So it is kind of difficult to find exercises that combine the two. By using kettle bells you can combine cardio with muscle building and burn as many as 20 calories a minute. There is nothing that compares with using kettle bells to burn fat and build muscle.

The figure 8 with a lift is my all time favorite ab and oblique exercise. It is fun and easy and all you do is pass a single bell back and forth between your legs in a figure 8 fashion. Each time you hand off stand straight up and lift the device to your chest before bending over and passing the bell between your legs again.

The straight legged dead lift with a twist is another very easy and very effective workout. Stand straight up with your feet together and holding a single KB in both hands. Now, bend over keeping your legs straight as you twist to one side or the other lowering the KB to the side of your feet. Stand straight up again and do the same thing on the other side.
