5. The Convention Facilities use service carts that are electrically-powered and energy-efficient LED plasma screens for their event advertising.

6. The culinary team participates by purchasing the freshest ingredients from local vendors, recycling paper products and carpeting, donating excess food to local shelters and food banks, donating fryer oil to be used as BioDiesel fuel, and more.

7. The San Jose International Airport (SJC) received a LEED Silver certification for its $1.3 billion newly-renovated and modernized Terminal B, which makes it one of the U.S. leading “green” airports. Other improvements include the 1-megawatt solar power roof that provides 30% of the electrical needs, using natural light to reduce electrical demand, having “smart” cooling, heating, and ventilation systems, converting from diesel to compressed natural gas (CNG) for the entire shuttle fleet that reduces emissions by almost 100 tons annually, and more.
