1. Carry deck crane

Carry deck cranes are a new and evolved model of the older pick and carry model. They are small and can rotate at 360 degrees. It is portable than other types of crane. Carry deck cranes are easy to set up and there small size allow them to go through confined spaces.

2. Crawler crane

Crawlers are track vehicles. Instead of wheels, they use undercarriage fitted with a pair of rubber tracks. Although this limits the capacity of the machine, the tracks make it useful at softer grounds.

3. Floating cranes

Suitable for working at places where cranes cannot reach by land. They are ideal for projects at seas, such as ports and oil rigs.

4. Rough terrain cranes

6. Bridge/overhead cranes

Typically meant for industrial environments, it resembles a bridge supported by two beams that can distribute the load.

7. The bulk handling cranes

They are used to carry large volumes of material, such as coal and minerals. These cranes have specialised hooks that utilise a grabbing mechanism along with a bucket to hold, grab and lift materials.

8. Hammerhead cranes

These are one of the most commonly used cranes for constructions. It is horizontal with a swivelling lever resting on a fixed tower. They offer a feature known as racking, which allows the trolley to move forward and backwards horizontally along with the arm of the crane. These cranes are heavy and are assembled on the construction site.

9. Stacker crane

Stacker cranes are cranes with a forklift-like mechanism, designed primarily for warehouse operations. They are specialised for extremely cold temperatures, making it unnecessary for human labour to work in extreme working environment.

10. Telescopic cranes

They are equipped with a large boom with hydraulic cylinders that allows it to change lengths just like a telescope. They are adaptable to any working environment, such as a short-term construction job to rescue operations during emergencies.
