Since the 1960's Egyptian new potatoes are well known over all the European and Middle Eastern markets. In 1992 all potatoes became all Desert Origin . The company is one of the oldest, leading and biggest in that field, since 1979. Nicola, Spunta, Diamant, Maris-Peer, Charlotte, Mondial, Exquisa and Hermes are the main varieties grown and exported by the company. We are one of the few companies having 100% control over its productions; we import the seeds from Europe, mainly " Netherlands , France , Denmark , Scotland and Germany ". The seeds are then planted in our desert farms, collected and graded. Then kept in the cold stores to be planted as a winter crop (October – November) for export. We are also involved in new varieties experiments as well as processing potatoes. For export, during the harvest season the potatoes are hand collected then packed directly in the fields in jumbo bags to avoid any mechanical damage caused by extra handling. Or they are carefully transported to the packing house to be graded and packed there in a wide range of bags either P.P or jute starting from 15 kg up to 25 kg bags. The packing house that was originally built by Lockwood in U.K. is now considered one of the most modern in Egypt , after the modifications that have been done over the years by our engineers. Until 1992, we were only traders buying potatoes from farmers but since that date the company started to plant its own fields in the eastern desert in “ ISMAILIA ” area those were rented pivots. The company was relying on this area until 2004 with its entire plantation. But in 2005 the newest farm was bought in "Wadi El-Natroun" area in the western desert. Its pivots were imported from “Valley” in the U.S.A and in 2006 the company started planting in the 2 areas. In November 2006 a new packing house was built in order to have more capacity especially for the Eastern European markets. All our production is Eurep-gap certified in order to comply with the supermarket requirements .
