Consuming caffeine or alcohol in excess tends to over excite the brain. This often results in anxiety making one prone to ringing ears.

Anxiety, Depression. The elevation of a person's stress level if often the result of anxiety or depression. Stress often contributes to high blood pressure which in turn is one of the causes for ringing ears.
