Global Micro-pump Market - Factors Driving Growth Post 2027
The global micro-pump market by industry is expected to grow at a rate of 9.3% during the forecasted period. Pharmaceutical industry segment commands the largest market share of 54.6% of total market and is expected to reach at USD 2,998.9 million by 2027.
Globally, the market for microfluidic pumps is gaining significant importance due to growing R&D investment in life sciences, pharmaceuticals, and increasing point of care testing demand. An increase in point of care testing, as an effective method for delivery of treatment, requirement for the precision and efficiency in the drug delivery has also led to increase in the demand for micropumps in the global market.
The market for the micropumps is segmented by the industry type, pharmaceutical, medical devices, in-vitro diagnostic industries and others. Microfluidic devices such as micro-pump in pharmaceutical industry are mainly used for research and development processes. These devices are used for better control, lower cost and faster results during various steps of drug development. The total market is expecting huge growth. Micro-pumps in pharmaceutical industry are used for a range of applications such as drug discovery, cell experimentation, and implantable drug delivery components. These devices are becoming more and more useful in pharmaceutical industry, comparatively at a low cost and have greater sensitivity to low signal levels. Micro-pumps are used for transdermal insulin delivery, artificial sphincter prosthesis. Antithrombogenic micro-pumps are used for blood transportation; micro-pumps are also used for injection of glucose in diabetes patients and administration of neurotransmitters to neurons and micro-pumps for chemical and biological sensing. Micro-pumps are used in the various processes by coupling them with other medical devices in order to obtain the desired results. Medical devices with lab on chip technology can be used with the micro-pumps for the sample preparation and analysis. Micro-pumps can be coupled with the fluid dispenser, flow meter, cytometer, micro-filters, micro-mixers, micro-dispensers, micro-needles and many other medical devices. In-Vitro Diagnostics tests are carried out outside the human body in an artificial environment by using samples such as blood, saliva and tissue for analysis. These tests are conventionally carried out in laboratories and can be classified under following categories: Clinical laboratory testing, Near-patient testing and Self-testing. These micro-pumps are highly reliable in order to perform precise sample or reagent loading. For example, a high precision micro piston pump is ideal for the loading and diluting of small volume samples/reagents which ensure the accurate and reliable sampling.
Europe micro-pump market by industry was valued at USD 235.6 million in 2015, and expected to reach at USD 1,607.2 million by 2027 at a CAGR of 15.8% during the forecasted period. Whereas the market is followed by the Asia-Pacific and the Middle East & Africa market.
