New, free guide supports challenge to reduce food waste
UK-based weighing scales manufacturer, Marsden Group, has launched a new white paper with the aim of raising awareness about the costs of food waste.
Food waste is costing the global economy $1 trillion, with a third of all foods failing to reach our forks.
The white paper, Reducing Food Waste With A Weighing Scale, explains how food waste can be reduced in the home, in the food industry and in restaurants, reducing costs and saving businesses and individuals money.
Marsden’s Managing Director, Richard Black, said: “Food waste is a huge problem in society - and from food production through to households we can all make a difference.
“One of the leading causes of food waste is lack of knowledge and awareness. It only takes a moment to weigh the waste to see how clear the problem is.”
Marketing Manager, David Smith, added: “We were recently involved in a food waste pilot with Winnow Solutions - who used out weighing scales alongside an app that calculated the value of the food being thrown away.
“We found out first hand the cost of wasted food on households - and now with this free guide we’re helping to spread awareness of that cost.”
