Famous Family Stranded near Lovelock, NV Could Have Called for Help with DOTS911 Signal Enhancer

San Jose, CA, March 29, 2014 - James Glanton, Christina McIntee, and four children were stranded when their Jeep Wrangler overturned in the Seven Troughs area near Lovelock, NV in December. National headlines followed the family's rescue after 48 hours spent in temperatures as low as -21ºF. Thanks to a massive coordinated search and rescue effort led by Pershing County Sheriff Richard Machado, everyone in the group survived.

Despite having mobile phones, Glanton and McIntee had no mobile phone service at the location of the accident, preventing them from calling for help. Representatives from DOTS911, creators of the first and only unpowered mobile phone signal enhancer hardware and signal locator software, investigated the mobile phone signals around the scene of the incident. As described in their account of the investigation, the team members found a useable mobile signal near the overturned Jeep.

The DOTS911 team demonstrated the ability to find and track useable mobile signals with the company's signal locator phone app and then to successfully make a call using its signal enhancer hardware. When contacted for comment, Sheriff Machado stated that unlike the DOTS911 signal enhancer, the powered signal boosters in local emergency services vehicles were unable to make calls near the site of the overturned jeep.

The team argued that if Glanton and McIntee had the DOTS911 phone signal products in their vehicle when it overturned, they would have been able to call emergency services or a tow truck minutes after the accident rather than risking their lives and the lives of four children over the course of a 48 hours struggle against exposure.

DOTS911 founder John Wilbur stated, This kind of story happens tens of thousands of times every year in the United States alone. That's why we designed our signal locator and signal enhancer. We can save a lot of lives.

DOTS911 surpassed its initial funding targets in its Indiegogo campaign last week. Three models of Signal Enhancer and the signal locator app are available for purchase through the DOTS911 Indiegogo page.
