Sony Responds To Anger Over Fortnite Cross-Play Block
Epic's massively popular battle royale game Fortnite launched for Nintendo Switch during E3 earlier recently, and similar to other versions, it supports cross-play and cross-progression with PC, Fortnite Skins and iOS--but not PS4. As with Rocket League, Sony has faced criticism for blocking cross-play between PS4 and also other versions of Fortnite, and after this the company has addressed the topic--although its response likely won't satisfy players.
"We're always ready to accept hearing the PlayStation community is interested in enhance their gaming experience," a Sony representative said on the BBC. "Fortnite Items is a huge hit with PS4 fans, offering a genuine free-to-play experience so gamers can begin and play online.
"With 79 million PS4s sold around the world plus more than 80 million monthly active users on PlayStation Network, we've built an enormous community of gamers who are able to play together on Fortnite and online titles. We also offer Fortnite cross-play support with PC, Mac, iOS, and Android devices, expanding the ability for Fortnite fans on PS4 to try out with more gamers on other platforms."
