CBD stands for Cannabidiol which is a substance derived from Cannabis (Cannabis Sativa). It is extracted from the flowers of the hemp plant and has been used for various health issues. The extract can be used in the form of an oil, suppositories or capsules.  For those unaware of its benefits, here are a few uses of CBD oil for health related issues. 

  1. It is one of the most effective pain killers. The body possesses a pain and sleep regulating endocannabinoids system which is affected by the CBD. The interaction of CBD with the Cannabinoid receptors reduces pain and inflammation. It can be used in conditions of acute as well as chronic pain. Studies have proved pain relieving results of CBD for muscular pain in multiple Sclerosis and arthritis. 

  2.  Depressions and anxiety are two of the most common mental disorders. Although there are many effective drugs for the disease but they have side effects which are a major drawback. CBD has shown improvements in helping improve symptoms of both the disorders. It has also shown positive results in children suffering from post traumatic disorder. 

  3. Due to its anti inflammatory properties, CBD has shown to be an effective remedy for acne.  . One should make sure that the concentration of oil being used topically is adjusted to avoid burns/ marks. CBD helps in regulating blood sugar and prevent insulin resistance in patients with diabetes mellitus type 2.  

  7. CBD induces sleep and is helpful in treating patient with insomnia due to any organic cause. CBD treats pain, anxiety and grogginess which are a few major contributors of insomnia. Either taking it orally or applying it on skin (soles ) have shown great results. 

  8. One of the most important use of CBD nowadays is to treat cancer related issues. This may be the symptoms of cancer or the side effects of cancer treatment. It ranges from nausea and vomiting to pain and discomfort. Chemotherapy can cause many unpleasant side effects like nausea, loss of appetite, feeling of being sick and weak. CBD has shown to be an effective solution for these symptoms and is used widely as a complementary drug in cancer patients. 

  9. Researches have been carried out to investigate the benefit of CBD in patients with drugs addiction. CBD has an effect on the neurological circuits that control the drug addiction and substance cravings and has shown satisfying outcomes in patients undergoing treatments for drug addictions.

CBD has now taken over the market due to its diverse uses and properties, but there still are questions about its side effects. Diarrhea, fatigue and loss of appetite are a few reported side effects. However, work is still being carried out to further investigate its uses and chronic health impacts.
