Your mind needs constant motivation. The best way to do this is to treat yourself to a movie or shopping if you have achieved your monthly weight loss target. This way you have something to feel happy about which will motivate you even more to achieve the next goal. It is also nice to treat yourself to an occasional pastry or donut, but you should be careful not to overdo it.Setting unrealistic weight loss targets for yourself can be a deterrent right from the start of the weight loss program. You should set your targets yourself because you are the one who best knows yourself, your cravings, your work-out capacity and your routine. 

It is best not to set targets that someone else has done for themselves, however tempting it may sound. It is also advisable to set short duration targets like two pounds in a month and plan accordingly, rather than saying you will lose 15 pounds in a month. Short duration targets achieve faster results, and it is a huge motivating factor to see yourself achieving those goals rather than wait for months to achieve a bigger target.Many people we see give up completely if they miss one work-out session or give in to a slice of chocolate cake during a party. One must be ready for setbacks. It is natural to get tempted once in a while. Instead of giving up completely, one must promise themselves to work out more vigorously during the next sessions and diet more religiously.
