Summary

Kansas City Aviation Department (KCAD) is undertaking the Kansas City International Airport Upgrade project in Missouri, the US.

KCAD has undertaken US$4 million studies towards the development of the project. Frasca & Associates LLC has been appointed as a lead consultant and Meridiam Infrastructure(MI) appointed a developer for the project.

On April 11, 2013, the city council voted 9-3 to move forward with a US$1,200 million plan to turn Kansas City International Airport into a single-terminal layout.

In May 2014, the citizens task force voted 19-24 to move forward with a new single terminal plan layout.

In April 2016, KCAD has decided to build a new terminal by modifying KCIs existing terminals.

In May 2016, the project has been placed on hold due to opposition from local residents.

In July 2017, Four companies submitted their proposals to design, build and finance are as follow the consortium which includes Burns & McDonnell, AECOM, Turner Construction, Edgemoor Infrastructure & Real Estate a subsidiary of Clark Construction, BlueScope Construction and Jones Lang LaSalle with submission deadline August 14, 2017.

On September 6, 2017, Edgemoor Infrastructure and Real Estate selected as a preferred bidder for design, build and finance the project.

In October 2017, Edgemoor Infrastructure and Real Estate awarded to design, build and finance contract for the project. Edgemoore team includes Clark Construction, equity investor Meridiam Infrastructure the Weitz Co. and general contractor Clarkson Construction and Skidmore, Owings & Merrill(SOM) as lead architect, Finance Advisory Limited as a financial advisor.

On December 14, 2017, the City Council voted 9-4 to reject a proposed memorandum of understanding (MOU) by Edgemoor Infrastructure and Real Estate for the project.

In February 2018, City Council approved MOU submitted by Edgemoor Infrastructure & Real Estate.
