Whether it's getting the job, climbing the ladder, managing your career, becoming one of the world's most sought-after consultants, or staying on top once you've got there, there are four things you must do to succeed or continue to succeed. And they're dead-set easy to remember and adhere to.Our movement up the ladder takes time and effort. We work very hard to secure a pathway that will take us to where we want to go. Networking and being seen at all the right places are acknowledged as being important. Some people are so accomplished at being known that they describe themselves as being Rainmakers (remember, it's not who you know or what you know, it's who knows you that really matters).

After all this effort, however, there remain four things that you have to do not only to retain those relationships but also to gain referrals from them. These four requirements are straightforward enough, but it's a case of one strike and you're out. You must abide-by all-four. Here, then are the four (with variations, of course).Arrive on time (in most places this is approximately 10-minutes early).Do as you say.Finish what you start.Say 'please' and 'thank you' (good, old-fashioned good-manners).

And remember: one strike and you're out! Being punctual is of little use if your manners let you down or you can't be relied on to finish what you start.If you're thinking, 'Hey, these are easy', you're right. Punctuality, integrity, reliability, and good manners are qualities instilled in us from an early age. And it doesn't matter where you're located on the corporate ladder, you must adhere to these qualities.There is a plethora of information available about how to get the best from Gen Y employees. And most of that information is valuable. I maintain, however, that the four qualities mentioned here, apply to everyone. In our own organization, we were rapt to have 'found' whom we considered to be the best IT-professional on the planet. It didn't take long for her glow to tarnish when she failed time-and-time again to finish what she started. she is no longer with the organization. Her 'Gen-status' had nothing to do with our decision to 'let-her-go.'If you do these four things, the 'breaks' will continue to happen and the referrals will keep coming. Miss any one of them, however, will make pushing a rope uphill seem easy.

The out of the ordinary growth of a company called Scentsy that is turning some heads. This is a truly inspiring story of free enterprise that started in the summer of 03 because Kara Egan along with her sister-in-law Collette Gunnell made the choice to own their own business. The business idea was uncomplicated. Create a unique line of scented wax along with warmers to release the fragrances Kara and Collette started talking about the idea over a meal. Kara realized that there could be a market for their new idea and started this venture as a team. The idea was to have it done in such a way that the fragrance is released as the wax melts at a very low 110-115 degrees.I really enjoy candles. Coming to my home for a visit you could see that as a fact. There is just something about the combination of the soft glow and pleasant smells that they emit that I enjoy so much. As enjoyable as they are, one must be cautious. Sometimes having an open flame is just not appropriate, as with small children.
