Unique Gifts for Guys, Tailoring the Gift to the Man
The four men in my life are all true personalities, and about as different as four people can be. Finding unique presents for guys that are uniquely individual themselves, is an exercise for the creative self. After all, I would like my favourite guys to gifts for geeks be excited and happy when they open their gifts, thrilled with my brilliant choices.
Don is a divo type: wealthy, capable of supplying himself (and already has) with the toys and replicas of success. He's the man with everything. What can I possibly give him he does not have? He's certainly my biggest challenge. It's occurred to me to give him a couple of meditation on a mountaintop in Tibet. This may be a present he really needs, but can it be a present he desires? Even if I could afford it, he'd probably reject it as boring. Typically, I've given him clothing: cashmere (always proper ), sports coats from Ralph Lauren, well tailored shirts.
Kyle is just another case. His character is rather blasé about everything except for certain interests which include: cooking, gardening, some aspects of design. He is finicky about these things as well, so gratifying him with an intriguing and exceptional talent calls for a lot of thought and endless hunting. Sooner or later, though, I know I will get the gift that can put a big grin on his face. In my pursuit for unique gifts for men, Kyle presents some interesting challenges.
Sean is your sportsman. He's not interested in clothing, although he needs them badly. While I give him clothing he obligingly puts them on and makes platitudes about how brilliant they are, but I understand he's just humoring me. He would much rather be in his 3 dollar job lot shirt and shorts, hiking or playing golf. So, possibly clothes are not an ideal choice for Sean. It is a shame since he's so much fun to dress. Maybe I can find some camping equipment he doesn't already have, or maybe has never heard of. But that is doubtful.
I am aware that when I can find just the right subject to hook him, an intellectual challenge, a book will bliss out him. But what novel has Tad read? It's always a gamble. I once gave him a book of quotations that he had a lot of fun with. But there has to be something apart from books which will snag his creativity. After all, I don't want to be repetitive and predictable.
The gift that does not thrill the Find Out More recipient isn't a successful present. The perfunctory gift isn't worth giving. Funny thing is that I never have this much trouble finding exciting gifts for my female relatives and friends. I guess it is a matter of being able to relate to certain things yourself. I know that if I really like it, she'll love it. But, guys? Another thing altogether. Who knows what is going to grab their imaginations and pleasure them? Therefore, my never-ending search for unique presents for men that are just the ideal gifts.
