KSA Tire is one of the leading tire manufacturers in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA). Founded in 1970 in the industrial city of Dammam, KSA Tire has become a household name in the country dominating over 35% of the national tire market.
The Early Years
When KSA Tire was established, the tire industry in the country was in its nascent stages with only a few small scale manufacturers catering to the demand. Seeing the potential for growth, Ahmed Ali, the founder of KSA Tire decided to enter the untapped market. Starting from a small factory, Ali recruited skilled workers from abroad and began production of basic tires for passenger vehicles. Within a few years, the brand started gaining popularity for its affordable prices and reliable quality. By 1980, KSA Tire had emerged as the largest tire manufacturer in the country cornering over 20% market share.
Expanding Horizons
Realizing the need to expand its product offerings, KSA Tire ventured into producing specialized tires in the late 1980s. Tires for heavy commercial vehicles, agricultural equipment, construction machinery and industrial applications were added to the portfolio. State-of-the-art manufacturing facilities came up in different industrial cities to cater to regional demands. KSA Tire also ventured overseas establishing manufacturing and sales subsidiaries across the Gulf region. This helped the brand establish itself as a one-stop tire solution provider catering to diverse application needs.
Focus on Technology and Innovation
While expanding operations, KSA Tire also invested heavily in product research and development. An in-house R&D facility was established in 1990 which helped the brand introduce several industry-first innovations. KSA Tire was among the first companies in the region to produce run-flat tires, all-weather tires and low rolling resistance tires helping improve fuel efficiency. Advanced computer-aided design software and high precision rubber mixing machinery were also inducted. The brand worked closely with various tire technology institutes and automotive companies to develop specialized applications. This focus on innovation helped KSA Tire cement its reputation as a technologically advanced tire manufacturer.
Serving the Community
Being a major industrial player, KSA Tire always recognized its social responsibilities. Several philanthropic initiatives were undertaken over the years focusing on community development, women empowerment, health, and education. Under the ‘Tires for Tomorrow’ program launched in 2000, KSA Tire adopted ten villages across KSA funding infrastructure and livelihood projects. The brand also supports various sports and cultural events helping promote local talents. During the recent COVID pandemic, KSA Tire played an active role in relief efforts by donating medical supplies and food packages. Such CSR activities have enhanced the brand's reputation as a socially responsible corporate citizen.
Expansion beyond Borders
With a strong foothold in its home market, KSA Tire began aggressive international expansion in 2010. The first overseas manufacturing plant came up in neighboring UAE catering to Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries. This was followed by setting up factories and facilities in Asia, Africa and Europe over the next decade. The brand also implemented strategic acquisitions strengthening its presence in global markets. Today, KSA Tire's international business accounts for over 35% of total revenue with products shipped to more than 90 countries worldwide. The brand has established itself among the top 10 global tire manufacturers within a short span of time through steady overseas growth.
New horizons
As KSA Tire celebrates its 50th anniversary, the brand is venturing into newer product verticals. A special R&D division has been formed to develop tires incorporating sustainable materials like green rubber and carbon black. The brand aims to introduce the first ‘eco-friendly’ tires in the region by 2025. KSA Tire is also gearing up for the future with a strong focus on digitalization. State-of-the-art IoT enabled smart tires integrated with cloud-based fleet management solutions are in the pipeline. A renewed thrust on e-commerce and logistics is helping expand reach in international markets. With continuous innovations, partnerships and global investments, KSA Tire is all set to strengthen its position as the leader in the tire industry well into the future.
