“Awlad Mahrous” is a Social Enterprise run by the dedicated founder “Yosreya Mahrous”.  Upon her father's death, Yosreya struggled to support her mother and siblings while running the family business. With the goal of providing a sustainable income for her family, she turned to her passion of drawing on papyrus and selling it in the streets of Cairo.  What began as a hobby became Yusreya’s 20 year dream of preserving the Egyptian craftsmanship identity in pottery and ceramics.

In 2001, Yusreya opened the Heritage Revival Training Center in Sharm El Sheikh.  The center became an empowerment platform for more than 300 artisan, half of which are families supported by women.  Today the center is a learning hub for children and adults, an extra-curricular school activity and a haven for the residents and expats of Sharm El Sheikh.
